Celebrating Our NYSCA Grant: Advancing Literacy Through Support

We're thrilled to announce that Behind the Book has been awarded a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) for the fiscal year 2025! This incredible support is pivotal for the work we do here at Behind the Book as it funds our program and reinforces our commitment to bringing literacy and storytelling to our communities here in Harlem. 

This year, NYSCA has gone above and beyond, investing not only in us but in 1,497 organizations statewide, spending $82 million. We are proud to be among those selected as the grant is more than just financial support—it's a vote of confidence in our mission to inspire young readers and create meaningful literary experiences.

At Behind the Book, we've always believed in the transformative power of reading. This NYSCA grant will help us continue our work of connecting students with the joy of books, supporting emerging writers, and building strong, literature-loving communities.
