Author Engagement

A book and its author are the anchor of every Behind the Book program; we quite literally can’t run our programs without you! Your text inspires the essential questions and themes that students explore and your visit to the classroom brings the book and the author path to life.

There are millions of amazing children’s books out there, but we prioritize titles that represent the diverse population of New York City and meet students where they’re at developmentally and academically. This focus allows us to bolster student’s intrinsic motivation.
